A small atelier
A small atelier of travel designers, working only on private journeys across Sri Lanka and the Maldives. Based in Sri Lanka and shaped by the landscapes, culture and experiences that make these islands extraordinary, we keep the team small on purpose, so the person planning your journey remains closely involved throughout. Everything rests on a single conviction. These islands deserve to be experienced properly.
Why Āvara exists
Āvara began with a quiet frustration. We saw how easily this part of the world could be sold as a checklist, the same handful of sights, the same rushed itineraries, the same rooms booked from a screen by people who had never stood in them. Living here has given us the chance to experience these islands beyond the familiar routes, and we wanted to design journeys that showed them that way.
So we built something small on purpose. A studio that plans every journey privately, that builds its collection through firsthand knowledge, trusted local relationships and careful evaluation, and that treats time and space as the real luxuries. We work across Sri Lanka and the Maldives, from the tea country and the wild south to the reefs of the outer atolls, designing each journey slowly, around the person taking it.

Honestly curated.
We only recommend properties and experiences we know firsthand. We carefully select every property and partner in our collection, with a focus on quality, character and guest experience. We regularly review our collection to make sure it continues to meet that standard.

Unhurried at every stage.
Good journeys take time to design. We do not rush the process, and we do not pack your days. Luxury is space. Space to breathe, to linger, to be surprised.
