A small atelier
A small atelier of travel designers, working only on private journeys across Sri Lanka and the Maldives. Born on this island and shaped by a lifetime of exploring it, we keep the team small on purpose, so the person who plans your journey is the one who knows it. Everything rests on a single conviction. These islands deserve to be experienced properly.
Why Āvara exists
Āvara began with a quiet frustration. We had spent years watching this part of the world sold as a checklist, the same handful of sights, the same rushed itineraries, the same rooms booked from a screen by people who had never stood in them. We knew these islands differently, from the inside, and we wanted to design journeys that showed them the way we had come to know them.
So we built something small on purpose. A studio that plans every journey privately, that sends travellers only to places we have stayed in ourselves, and that treats time and space as the real luxuries. We work across Sri Lanka and the Maldives, from the tea country and the wild south to the reefs of the outer atolls, designing each journey slowly, around the person taking it.

Honestly curated.
We only recommend properties and experiences we know firsthand. Every hotel and guide in our portfolio has been personally vetted. If standards slip, they leave our collection.

Unhurried at every stage.
Good journeys take time to design. We do not rush the process, and we do not pack your days. Luxury is space. Space to breathe, to linger, to be surprised.
