Set above Weligama Bay, Cape Weligama reflects Sri Lanka’s southern coast through ocean views, tropical architecture and a slower rhythm shaped by life beside the sea.
The southern coastline has always been shaped by movement. Fishing communities, ocean journeys and coastal villages have created a landscape deeply connected to the sea. Cape Weligama sits above this meeting point, where headlands overlook the Indian Ocean and pathways move between gardens, villas and open coastal views. The experience is less about retreating from the island and more about understanding a different side of it, where daily life continues alongside the changing rhythm of the ocean.
Days at Cape Weligama unfold around the landscape. Mornings begin with views across the bay, afternoons follow the coastline through villages, beaches and heritage towns, while evenings return to the quiet perspective of the headland above the sea.

The Pool Pavilion and Cape Residence offer the most space and privacy, up to around 310 square metres, with their own private pool, well suited to families or groups.

We include Cape Weligama for the way it frames Sri Lanka’s southern coast. Beyond its setting, the property creates space to experience the ocean landscape, nearby communities and coastal culture with a sense of place rather than simply a seaside stay.

Cape Weligama stands on a headland above Weligama Bay on Sri Lanka's south coast, a short drive from the surf and fishing town of Weligama and the whale waters off Mirissa, with the walled city of Galle Fort about forty minutes to the west. It is around two and a half hours from Colombo along the southern expressway, or a shorter drive from Mattala airport in the south.
The coast is the reason to come. Days move between the clifftop Moon Pool, the beaches below and the villages and heritage towns along the shore, and the Indian Ocean is present at every turn. Our designers arrange the private transfers, the whale-watching boats and the coastal excursions.
