Set above the coastline near Galle, Jetwing Lighthouse reflects Geoffrey Bawa’s architectural vision through tropical modernism, ocean views and a deep relationship with the surrounding landscape.
Sri Lanka’s coastline has inspired generations of architects, but few shaped the relationship between buildings and landscape like Geoffrey Bawa. Jetwing Lighthouse stands as one of his defining coastal works, where architecture responds to the movement of the ocean, the changing light and the character of the south. Rather than separating guests from the environment, its spaces invite the coastline inward, creating a conversation between design, history and place.
Days at Jetwing Lighthouse move between architecture and ocean. Walk through spaces shaped by Bawa’s vision, explore nearby Galle Fort and the southern coast, then return to terraces where sea, stone and sky define the rhythm of the day.

We include Jetwing Lighthouse because it represents an important chapter in Sri Lankan design. Its value lies not only in its coastal setting, but in experiencing how architecture can interpret a landscape and create a deeper understanding of place.

Jetwing Lighthouse stands on the rocks at Dadella, on the immediate outskirts of Galle on the south coast. It is about two hours from Colombo along the Southern Expressway, with Mattala airport in the south a shorter drive, and the walled city of Galle Fort only minutes away.
The coast and the architecture are the draw. Galle Fort, the beaches and the fishing towns of the south are all close, but much of the pleasure is the building itself, its terraces and staircases turned toward the sea. Our designers arrange the private transfers and the excursions along the southern shore.
