Set along Pasikudah Bay, Maalu Maalu reflects Sri Lanka’s eastern coastal heritage through village-inspired architecture, ocean traditions and a close connection with local culture.
For generations, Sri Lanka’s eastern coastline has been shaped by fishing communities whose lives follow the movement of the ocean. Inspired by the traditional coastal village, Maalu Maalu reflects this relationship between people, sea and place. Its setting along Pasikudah connects travellers with a quieter side of the island where local traditions and coastal rhythms remain closely linked.
Days at Maalu Maalu move with the rhythm of the eastern coast. Watch fishing traditions continue along the shoreline, explore the calm waters of Pasikudah and experience a landscape where the ocean remains central to daily life.

Maalu Maalu sits on Pasikudah Bay on Sri Lanka’s east coast, around six and a half hours by road from Colombo, or a short drive from the regional airport at Batticaloa.
The bay is among the shallowest and calmest in the country, and the coast is at its best through the eastern season, broadly April to September, when the west turns to rain.
