Karpaha Sands lies on Kalkudah Beach on Sri Lanka’s east coast, around six and a half hours by road from Colombo, or a shorter drive from Polonnaruwa, roughly an hour inland.
The nearest regional airport is Batticaloa, a short drive to the south, and the coast is at its calmest and clearest through the eastern season, broadly May to September.
