More than two centuries later, its generous verandahs, carved timber, terracotta roofs and peaceful gardens continue to reflect the character of Sri Lanka's hill country. Gunnepana, Kandy
Adigar's Manor stands at Amunugama, near Gunnepana, in the paddy country about twenty minutes from Kandy and roughly three and a half hours from Colombo and its Bandaranaike International Airport. The Temple of the Tooth and the old royal city lie a short drive away, with the Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya and the hill country beyond within easy reach.
Yet the manor is a retreat in itself. Set apart among the rice fields, it keeps the pace of a private home, the sacred city close enough for a morning visit and the quiet of the countryside to return to. Our designers arrange the private transfer and the visits into Kandy, so the cultural heart of the island opens without losing the calm of the house.
