Set among tropical gardens near Galle, Kahanda Kanda reflects Sri Lanka’s southern countryside through intimate design, estate landscapes and the slower rhythm of coastal village life.
Away from the shoreline, Sri Lanka’s southern landscape changes into a world of cinnamon estates, gardens and small rural communities. Kahanda Kanda sits within this quieter setting, where pathways move between tropical planting, private spaces and views across the surrounding countryside. The experience reveals another side of the coast, one shaped not only by the ocean but by the landscapes and traditions that exist just beyond it.
Life at Kahanda Kanda follows the pace of the surroundings. Mornings begin among gardens and birdsong, days move between the southern coastline, Galle’s historic streets and nearby villages, before returning to the calm of the estate.

We include Kahanda Kanda because it broadens the story of Sri Lanka’s south coast. It represents the quieter inland character of the region, where architecture, gardens and rural landscapes create a more personal connection to place.

Kahanda Kanda sits on a fourteen-acre tea and cinnamon estate at Angulugaha, in the green country above Koggala Lake, about thirty minutes inland from the walled city of Galle. It is roughly two hours from Colombo along the southern expressway, with Mattala airport in the south a shorter drive.
The estate is the point, but the coast is close. Galle Fort, the Koggala beaches and the lake are all within easy reach, and the sister property KK Beach can be reached by bicycle. Our designers arrange the private transfers, the estate walks and the excursions along the southern shore.
