Long before it welcomed travellers, this building was part of the daily rhythm of Sri Lanka's tea industry. Set among the cool hills of Kandapola, the former factory has been carefully transformed while preserving the character of its original purpose. Machinery, structure and design details remain as reminders of the craftsmanship behind Ceylon tea, creating a place where industrial heritage and the surrounding mountain landscape continue to tell the same story.
Days here reveal the journey of tea from landscape to tradition. Walk through surrounding plantations, learn the craft behind Ceylon tea or explore the mist-covered hills of Nuwara Eliya before returning to a building where every corridor and detail reflects its working past.

Kandapola, Nuwara Eliya
Heritance Tea Factory stands at Kandapola, in the tea hills above Nuwara Eliya, at over two thousand metres and around a hundred and sixty kilometres from Bandaranaike International Airport. The drive from Colombo takes about five hours through the mountains, and the hill-country railway offers one of the loveliest approaches to the highlands.
Once here, the cool air and the tea define the days. Nuwara Eliya town, the high plains of Horton Plains and the wider tea country lie within reach, but the building itself, its machinery, its corridors and its mountain views, is as much the experience as anything beyond it. Our designers arrange the private transfers and the estate experiences.
