Demodara, Ella
Nine Skies sits on the Demodara Estate, in the hills just outside Ella in Sri Lanka's south-eastern tea country. It is a long and beautiful journey from Colombo, around six hours by road, though the finest way to arrive is on the hill-country railway, which climbs through the tea to Ella and Demodara, past the Nine Arch Bridge and the looping Demodara line.
Once here, the pace is the estate's own. Ella and its viewpoints, the railway, the tea and the waterfalls are all close by, but the pleasure is the garden, the pool and the long mountain views. Our designers arrange the private transfers, the train legs and the estate walks.
