A restored family residence on a quiet street in Cinnamon Gardens, Maniumpathy offers a rare and personal way to know Colombo, through the heritage, craft and Tamil culture of a home rather than a hotel.
Maniumpathy is a family home before it is a hotel. A heritage house on Kynsey Road in Cinnamon Gardens, restored by its own descendants, its seven suites are named for the women of the household and its rooms hold the calm and character of a private residence. To stay is to see a different Colombo, not the city of towers and traffic but an older, gentler one, ordered around a courtyard, shaped by Tamil heritage, and kept alive by those whose story still fills its walls.
Days at Maniumpathy are quiet and unhurried. Mornings begin over coffee in the courtyard, the lap pool still, the city held at a distance beyond the walls. Afternoons pass with a book in the shade or an easy conversation with the family. As evening comes the old house softens into lamplight, and dinner brings the flavours of the Jaffna table to a verandah made for lingering.

A quieter Colombo, held beyond the walls
Most travellers pass through Colombo without ever meeting it. We send those who want more to Maniumpathy, because it offers the city from the inside: a family's heritage residence rather than an international address, where the architecture, the Tamil table and the quiet of a courtyard tell you more about Sri Lanka than any tour. For guests drawn to authenticity and history, it is the truest way to begin, or end, in the capital.

Maniumpathy stands on Kynsey Road in Cinnamon Gardens, the greenest and most gracious quarter of Colombo, a district of old houses, galleries, gardens and embassies rather than office towers. The city's cultural and culinary life is close at hand, yet the residence keeps its own quiet behind the garden wall.
It suits the traveller who wants Colombo as a place to feel rather than transit. This is a heritage home, not a business hotel, and it works best as a considered first or last chapter in a journey, with the museums, markets and restaurants of the capital a short private drive away and the calm of the courtyard to return to.
