Set among the quiet hills of Ragala, Stafford Bungalow offers an intimate tea country experience where estate landscapes, thoughtful hospitality and the warmth of a restored highland home come together.
Hidden among the eastern hills beyond Nuwara Eliya, Stafford Bungalow reflects the quieter traditions of Sri Lanka's tea country. The restored estate home preserves the character of highland living, where gardens, cool mountain air and surrounding plantations shape the rhythm of each day. Personal in scale and deeply connected to its setting, the bungalow offers a gentler perspective on the landscapes and communities that continue to define this region.
Days unfold through estate walks, garden paths and quiet moments shaped by the surrounding hills. Explore nearby tea landscapes and highland villages before returning to the bungalow, where conversations, thoughtful dining and the warmth of a private home define the evening.

Stafford Bungalow stands on its fifty-acre tea estate at Ragala, in the eastern hills of the Nuwara Eliya district, at around twelve hundred metres and some twenty kilometres from Nuwara Eliya town. It is a long drive from Colombo, close to six hours, or reached on the hill-country railway to Nanu Oya and a drive on into the hills.
Once here, the estate is the world. Nuwara Eliya, the surrounding plantations and the high country lie within reach, but the pleasure is the garden, the pool and the quiet of a private home. Our designers arrange the private transfers and the estate experiences.
