A heritage mansion on Rosmead Place reimagined by Sri Lanka's most celebrated design house, Tintagel is where Colombo's history and its contemporary creative spirit meet, a quiet, art-filled base in Cinnamon Gardens.
Behind a garden wall on Rosmead Place stands a heritage mansion of real national significance, once home to a family that gave the country three of its leaders. What makes Tintagel remarkable now is what was done with it. Reimagined by Udayshanth Fernando, founder of Paradise Road and the defining figure in contemporary Sri Lankan design, the old rooms were opened to light, art and clean modern lines, and the garden drawn around a courtyard pool. The result is a quieter, more refined Colombo, where architecture and design speak louder than history.
Light is the first thing you notice, moving through the old rooms and across the art. Mornings are slow by the courtyard pool, the walled garden holding the city at bay. The galleries, boutiques and cafes of Cinnamon Gardens lie a short walk beyond the gate, and afternoons bring high tea in the shade. Evenings return to the quiet of a house that feels entirely designed for calm.

We keep Tintagel for the traveller who reads a city through its buildings and its art. It is the clearest expression of contemporary Sri Lankan design in Colombo, set inside a house of genuine history, in the creative heart of Cinnamon Gardens. For those who care how a place is made, it offers a version of the capital that the seafront hotels never show, cultured, considered and quietly its own.

Tintagel sits on Rosmead Place in Cinnamon Gardens, the quiet, tree-lined quarter where Colombo keeps its old houses, its galleries and its embassies. It is a residential address rather than a commercial one, the city's creative life within walking distance yet held at arm's length beyond the garden wall.
It makes a considered base for discovering the capital on your own terms, the design studios, museums and restaurants of Colombo a short private drive away, the calm of the courtyard always waiting on return. This is a house to stay in, not a hotel to pass through, and it rewards travellers who want the city slowly.
